Gosh, I can’t believe it’s been over two months since my last proper blog post (Wordless Wednesdays don’t count!). Where has the time gone? It’s not even as if I can show you much in the way of finished weaving either.

Saltaire Makers Fair
So this weekend saw my first ever Makers Fair as a stall holder; the weekend where I gently launched my textile design business, and it was … an experience!
I’ve been selling my hand dyed yarns and fibres at trunk shows, craft retreats and yarn shows large and small from John O’Groats to Hertfordshire for the last two and a half years, but that really didn’t prepare me for the reality of trying to sell time-intensive hand made textile products.
…Last Minute Prep!
Amongst some of my non-weaving crafting friends, I am affectionately known as Midnight Weaver (search #midnightweaver on Instagram; it’s a thing), due to the whole last minute nature of my production. It started at college with Project 2 and hasn’t really changed since.

It’s funny how some things take a long time to leave you. After all the double cloth I’ve worked on for the West Windows collection, you’d have thought I’d had enough, but I keep returning to the source materials. I have some lovely British blend DK I have hand dyed to match one of the window panels I used for the collection, and I’m looking forward to using it to weave some yardage for cushions.

Excitement…. and trepidation!
Since I last blogged, it’s been a bit crackers here – I’ve squeezed in show prep for taking my hand dyed yarns and fibre business to Fibre East, a walking weekend in Skye and a few days in Edinburgh with some of my friends from my walking group and gone down to Fibre East last weekend.
…Inspiration is everywhere!
I’ve been in a bit of a slump since coming back from New Designers in London at the weekend. Rushing around after setting up the final show, (thereby hangs a tale – more on that to come!), having a break near Bradford with my parents after the Preview night, trying to prepare for the British Wool Show for my other business , then rushing around London for New Designers and taking advantage of being close to see some exhibitions means I haven’t actually woven in five weeks… and I miss it.

So, the show is up, and I can try to work out what to do with my life now I don’t have a college deadline looming! The Summer Show has its preview this coming Friday and then is open to the public Saturday 10th to Thursday 15th.
