The latest news from Louet is that the improved dobby hooks have only just arrived at the factory, so production and delivery has been pushed back to mid February. It’s possible I could produce my Project 6 samples for the second weekend in March by then, but it’s pushing it, as I’ve never warped a Louet before and there will be some time needed to adjust.

Product Research for Project Six
Even though I have not yet finished Project Five, I started the product research for Project Six today, the final collection. My source of inspiration is the West Windows from Manchester Cathedral, specifically parts of the one featured in this post.

In Which I Curse My Ambition…
The trouble with being unable to submit Project 5 on time is that the neverending warp of sandy brown is just there. No change of colour, no alternative textures to break the monotony, until I splatter the warp with dye powders and then wet it whilst it is on the loom.
…Delays
Louet are making some improvements to the Magic Dobby, so production has been pushed back. This means I won’t get my new toy until the middle of January. Until then I will just dream of all the possibilities of 24 shafts…

Finally! Progress is happening with Project 5. Look – I made pleats!!!
The pleats are currently being investigated to see what can be done to introduce a 3-D element to the work.

Looking back: Project Three Part 3
The good thing about Project Three was it was such a long timescale. The bad thing about Project Three was it was such a long timescale. I left college on track, but with nearly five months to sample and then produce the collection of 8 fabrics.
