Visual Research for Project 6
So, my focus has shifted onto different parts of the West Window, to make the most of the yarns that I have. I’ve been working with this panel…
…which is part of this window (it’s actually the left hand one of the five lower parts you can just see the top of):
In the last couple of projects I’ve ended up using just one medium for most of my artwork, so this time, I am making a conscious effort to use a wider variety.
…Squeeeee!!!!
It’s here!!!!!!
…Changing Direction…
If you’ve been reading this for a while, you might have noticed a run of Wordless Wednesday posts featuring colourful sections of one of the West Windows of Manchester Cathedral. I had started some artwork as part of my visual research, but not much.
…Eeek!
I got so excited when I saw that Uppingham Yarns stocked coloured monofilament, I bought some to use as small blocks of weft to get a translucent, stained glass type effect.
What I didn’t check in my excitement, was what thickness it was….

…
Finally!
So, three months after it should have been, Project 5 has been submitted. It feels like a long and tortuous path, with a lot of flat sandy brown warp, pain when trying to weave, and general frustration at not being to execute what I had in mind.
…Yay!!!!!!
Rob from Weft Blownhas contacted me to tell me that my Magic Dobby will be here either next week or the week after – yay!!!!
