Changing Direction…

If you’ve been reading this for a while, you might have noticed a run of Wordless Wednesday posts featuring colourful sections of one of the West Windows of Manchester Cathedral. I had started some artwork as part of my visual research, but not much. Partly that was a reluctance on my part to invest a lot of time in it before I’d fully identified my colour palette as I needed to narrow it down. I ordered some beautiful Shetland weaving yarn from Jamieson’s of Shetland, knowing that I would struggle to match the rich reds. The order took a while to come and in fact, didn’t arrive until an hour and a half before I was due to set of for Bradford earlier this month. I slung the box in the car and didn’t actually open it until the Saturday in college. During discussion with my tutor, we identified a different section of the windows and matched the colours to it, so my palette is now identified….

…and it’s not much like the palettes I was considering before! I’ll keep you posted as the visual research progresses.
